Gov. Tom's Messageby Gov. Tom Varner This was a great start to an even better year coming up in Kiwanis. Our member ship is on the rebound after the initial hit in October from clubs purging their roles, and we are down 52 members from the beginning. With a new club organized - Kiwanis Club of Tidewater Young Professionals on January 20 with 27 new Kiwanians, we should be down about 25 at the end of this month......more |
Grafton Kiwanian to be honored with Humanitarian Awardby Robert Elsass James E. Barnett (right) , one of the Grafton Kiwanis Club's most active members, will be honored on February 24 with a 2011 Peninsula Humanitarian Award by the Virginia Center of Inclusive Communities. Far EastKiwanis Club & Division One Sponsor Dr. Martin Luther King Annual Prayer BreakfastPhoto Essay and Story by Past Governor Bob Cressy Washington, DC - Members of the Kiwanis Club of Far East sponsored their Annual Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Annual Prayer Breakfast on Monday, January 17th, 2011. It was held at Saint Luke's Catholic Church, 4923 Central Avenue, SE, Washington, DC. The event on the country's national day of remembrance of Dr. King was held in a large parish hall once again with around a hundred Kiwanis members, guests and entertainers....more |
K-Kids Give to the Communityby Rosemary Cummings In December the K-Kids Club at the Boys and Girls Club of Oak Orchard delivered donations of food and holiday treats to the Georgetown Crisis Center. The K-Kids made Christmas stockings and filled them with candy, and the children and their parents donated the canned goods. ....more |
